TAYLOR SWIFT ALLOWED TO PERFORM OLD SONGS AT AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS – MAYBE – (11/19/2019)
Taylor Swift’s former record label Big Machine Label Group released a statement confirming the singer can perform her old songs at the 2019 American Music Awards on November 24th.
Big Machine Label Group, which owns the singer’s catalog of recordings through 2017 album Reputation, released a statement with saying the 29-year-old would be able to go ahead with plans to perform a medley of her old songs during the AMAs, where she is scheduled be receive the Artist of the Decade award.
“The Big Machine Label Group and Dick Clark Productions announce that they have come to terms on a licensing agreement that approves their artists’ performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms,” the statement reads. “This includes the upcoming American Music Awards performances for Thomas Rhett and former Big Machine Records recording artist Taylor Swift.” “It should be noted that recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media,” it states. “Record label approval is only needed for contracted artists’ audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed.”
However, Dick Clark Productions, which produces the AMAs, released a statement saying, “At no time did Dick Clark Productions agree to, create, authorize or distribute a statement in partnership with Big Machine Label Group regarding Taylor Swift’s performance at the 2019 American Music Awards. Any final agreement on this matter needs to be made directly with Taylor Swift’s management team. We have no further comment.”
The public battle over Swift’s planned performance began Thursday, when the singer tweeted that Big Machine Label Group’s Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun were attempting to block her from performing her old music at the AMAs and on an upcoming Netflix documentary.
Big Machine initially responded to Swift’s post, saying the label had been attempting to meet with Swift to work out terms for the AMAs and the documentary. The statement alleged Swift admitted to owning the label millions of dollars, a claim refuted by a representative for Swift. The rep said Big Machine actually owes Swift $7.9 million in unpaid royalties. The American Music Awards are scheduled for November 24th.

CHRISTIAN BALE TURNED DOWN FOURTH BATMAN BECAUSE … The Dark Knight Rises wouldn’t have been Christian Bale’s last Batman film if Warner Bros. had its druthers, but he bowed out. The star tells the Toronto Sun: “When they came [to us after ‘Batman Begins’] and said, ‘You want to go make another?’ It was fantastic, but we still said, ‘This is it. We will not get another opportunity. ‘Then they came and they said, ‘OK, let’s do the third one.’ Chris had always said to me that if we were fortunate to be able to make three we would stop. ‘Let’s walk away after that,’ he said. Then when they inevitably came to us and said, ‘How about a No. 4?’ I said, ‘No. We have to stick to Chris’ dream, which was always to, hopefully, do a trilogy. Let’s not stretch too far and become overindulgent and go for a fourth.’”

SCOOTER BRAUN ‘FRUSTRATED’ WITH SCOTT BORCHETTA OVER TAYLOR SWIFT MUSIC SITUATION – (11/18/2019)
Scooter Braun is reportedly unhappy with the way things are going with Taylor Swift’s music. The music producer is “frustrated” with how Big Machine Label’s Scott Borchetta is handling Swift and her music catalog.
“Scooter is frustrated because his name is being dragged in the mud,” a source told E! News. “He doesn’t run Big Machine or have operational control of company. He hasn’t taken part in these negotiations…This fight with Taylor is not something Scooter agrees with.”
Last week, Taylor shared that she was hoping to perform a medley of her hits at the upcoming 2019 American Music Awards, but claimed that Scooter and Scott are banning her from performing her music.
Big Machine Label then released a statement, discrediting Taylor’s claims, which her rep later slammed. The insider said Scooter has been trying to reach Taylor, but she hasn’t returned his calls. Scooter’s Nashville office was shut Friday following threats allegedly sparked by Swift’s claims. Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, was deluged with calls after Taylor asked her fans, “Please let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this.”
Meanwhile, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth Warren are defending Swift.
Representative Ocasio-Cortez spoke out on Twitter Friday regarding Swift’s situation. “Private equity groups’ predatory practices actively hurt millions of Americans,” she tweeted. “Their leveraged buyouts have destroyed the lives of retail workers across the country, scrapping 1+ million jobs. Now they’re holding @taylorswift13’s own music hostage. They need to be reigned in.”
Presidential candidate Warren joined in on Saturday, tweeting that Swift is “one of many whose work has been threatened by a private equity firm,” connecting it to her presidential campaign. “They’re gobbling up more and more of our economy, costing jobs and crushing entire industries,” Warren wrote. “It’s time to rein in private equity firms – and I’ve got a plan for that.” The last line of Warrens’ tweet is her unofficial campaign slogan, reflecting her many policy positions.

Taylor Swift has released a new song she performs from the upcoming Cats movie titled “Beautiful Ghosts.”
Swift uploaded a snippet of the song to Twitter and announced that it would be released at midnight. “Follow me home, if you dare to,” Swift sings in the teaser.
“Beautiful Ghosts” is written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Swift. “Cats” is an adaptation of Webber’s Broadway musical of the same name which is based on author T.S. Eliot’s book Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. It is set to arrive in theaters on December 20th.
Swift will be portraying Bombalurina in the film alongside Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella, Francesca Hayward as Victoria, Idris Elba as Macavity, Ian McKellen as Gus, Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, James Corden as Bustopher Jones and Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger.
On Wednesday Swift released a remix of “Lover” featuring Sam Mendes along with a lyric video.
Meanwhile, Swift has written an open letter to her fans claiming that music producer Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta will not allow her to perform her old music at the American Music Awards on November 24th.
Taylor is being honored later with the Artist of the Decade Award at the 2019 American Music Awards and she planned on performing “a medley of [her] hits throughout the decade on the show.” Taylor says that Scooter and Scott will not let her perform her “old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before [she is] allowed to next year.”
In the open letter, Taylor also revealed that she has a Netflix documentary in the works and the duo also will not let her use “older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film.”
Taylor launched her career on Big Machine Records and the label owns the master recordings to all of the music featured on her first six albums. Big Machine was bought by Scooter for $300 million earlier this year. Swift decided to leave the label and release her new album Lover with Republic Records, where she will own her masters moving forward.
Taylor is now asking her fans to let Scooter, Scott, and the other artists they work with (like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato) “know how you feel about this.”
Fans promptly began doxxing the pair, publishing what appear to be Braun and Borchetta’s private contact information – including phone numbers and a physical home address – on Twitter.

DISNEY+ PULLS SIMPSONS EPISODE? The full Simpsons library is available for the first time on Disney+, but a popular, and infamous, episode has been held back. Stark Raving Dad, from 1991, is not available, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In March of this year, the episode was pulled from circulation following the release of HBO’s Leaving Neverland, in which Jackson was accused of molesting multiple boys. Jackson’s estate has denied the allegations.

KELLY CLARKSON DIDN’T KNOW THE JONAS BROTHERS OPENED FOR HER IN 2005 – (11/15/2019)
Kelly Clarkson had no idea that the Jonas Brothers opened for her in 2005.
During The Kelly Clarkson Show Thursday, Kelly admitted to guest Nick Jonas that she had no recollection of the sibling trio being her opening act. “I feel like I just got really cool,” she said.
But Nick revealed that they kind of exaggerated the gig in order to book more shows. “No one cared about us in 2005, we were just coming up,” he explained. “And basically to get other gigs, we listed the other acts that we’d opened up for, but that really just meant that we were on, like, the outside stage in the parking lot while you were playing for 40,000 people.” “But you helped us get a lot of other gigs after that, so thank you,” he added.
The Jonas Brothers are out now on their own headlining Happiness Begins tour.
During the interview, Clarkson and Jonas also discuss Nick’s new role on The Voice, where he’s set to join Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton as a coach for Season 18.
“I’m gonna kick your tail,” Clarkson told Jonas.
“That’s not true. Incorrect. I’m not gonna clap for that,” Jonas insists, before revealing that filming has already gotten underway with the blind auditions.
