JOHN LEGEND, KELLY CLARKSON UPDATE LYRICS FOR ‘BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE’ – (10/29/2019)
John Legend is releasing a deluxe edition of his holiday album A Legendary Christmas and it will include a new version of the song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with updated lyrics.
The 40-year-old singer is collaborating with fellow The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson for the new version of the song.
John and comedian Natasha Rothwell wrote new lyrics to give “Baby It’s Cold Outside” a modern and irreverent narrative. It has long been considered that the holiday tune is a sexist song that is seemingly about a date rape. The new lyrics have taken out the controversial sexist lines to be more appropriate for 2019:
“I really can’t stay (Baby it’s cold outside)/ I’ve gotta go away (I can call you a ride)/ This evening has been (so glad that you dropped in)/ So very nice (time spent with you is paradise)/ My mother will start to worry (I’ll call a car and tell ‘em to hurry).”
Whereas once the lyrics went, “Say, what’s in this drink?” and featured a woman protesting “The answer is no” and her male partner continuing to try to wear her down, Legend has revised them.
“What will my friends think?” Clarkson now asks, before he responds, “I think they should rejoice.” Clarkson finishes her thought with “If I have one more drink?” before Legend replies, “It’s your body, and your choice.”
Other new tracks on the 18-track album will include “This Christmas,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Christmas in New Orleans.” The deluxe edition of the album will be released on November 8th.
“Baby It’s Cold Outside” was first penned by Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls) in 1944 as a duet for him to sing with his wife at parties. It’s gone on to become an enduring holiday classic, sung by everyone from Dolly Parton and Rod Stewart to Michael Bublé and Idina Menzel to Chris Colfer and Darren Criss on an episode of Glee.
But in recent years the lyrics have raised eyebrows. Last year, the song was taken off of some radio playlists in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
Loesser’s daughter Susan told NBC News that “Bill Cosby ruined it for everybody,” referring to the comedian being accused by 60 women of drugging and assaulting them. “Way before #MeToo, I would hear from time to time people call it a date rape song. I would get annoyed because it’s a song my father wrote for him and my mother to sing at parties. But ever since Cosby was accused of drugging women, I hear the date rape thing all the time,” she said.

Charlie Puth had one of his dreams come true when he got to meet Jennifer Aniston for the first time.
Before performing his new single, “Mother,” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, the 27-year-old singer admitted he was “shaking from excitement” simply from being on the same set as Jennifer, who also appeared on the talk show that same morning.
Of course, Ellen decided to bring Jennifer out to surprise Charlie, who greeted the actress with a giant hug. The Friends superfan could hardly keep his cool, saying, “I’m dying right now. Are you gonna stay? You can stay,” and later adding, “You smell so good.”
With Jen casually propped up on his chair, Charlie couldn’t resist asking her about the possibility of a Friends reboot, which elicited a coy response.
“We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. We’re working on something,” Jennifer said.

LADY GAGA DECLARES SHE’LL BE ONSTAGE UNTIL SHE’S 92 – (10/28/2019)
Lady Gaga has once again assured fans that that a new album coming.
In a fan video captured during a performance of her Las Vegas residency show Enigma in Las Vegas Wednesday, Gaga says, “Don’t you worry. I’m not going nowhere. I’m making new music.”
As the crowd cheered, she continued. “I’ll be a whole new me, over and over. And I’ll be just like Tony Bennett, I’ll be onstage when I’m 92.”
Back in March, Gaga confirmed that she was working on her long-awaited sixth album. Last month, the head of the French division of her record label said it would arrive next year. When it does, it’ll be the follow-up to 2016’s Joanne.
Gaga is up for two American Music Awards: Favorite Soundtrack for A Star Is Born, and Collaboration of the Year for her Bradley Cooper duet “Shallow.”
Meanwhile, a Lady Gaga impersonator said she felt “like a deer in headlights” after the emcee at a charity event falsely introduced her a the real thing, forcing her to just go along with it as the crowd went wild and mobbed the stage.
Tierney Allen is a renowned Gaga impersonator, who performs in the Legends In Concert show at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, alongside Freddie Mercury, Pat Benatar and Elvis tribute acts, among others.
Allen recently played a Vegas charity event, where she took to the stage in Joanne-era getup and played “You And I” and “Million Reasons.” It was business as usual until the end of the event, when the emcee told the crowd that she was not an impersonator, but was the real thing.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Allen described the wild situation that ensued, saying: “What happened is I was booked to perform at a private event for Women of Global Change. We always tell the clients to make sure the guests know I’m not the real thing … I thought, ‘Oh, that’s not good. I immediately started sweating. I must have looked like a deer in the headlights.”
She stuck around to help out with a charity auction, assisting in the sale of a framed A Star Is Born poster, autographed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, which was eventually sold for $3,000. On leaving, she told event organizers “I really hope I don’t upset Gaga’s people.”

SELENA GOMEZ SAYS SHE’S LOOKING FOR LOVE AGAIN AFTER ‘TOXIC’ RELATIONSHIPS – (10/28/2019)
Selena Gomez has opened up about her love life and shared that first loves can be “a little toxic.”
On Friday, the 27-year-old appeared on the Zach Sang Show, where she revealed that she’s ready for a new romance after her headline-grabbing, years-spanning relationship with Justin Bieber.
“I’ve been super, super single for two years and I want to know what that love will look like next for me,” she admitted. “I want it to be real and I don’t want it to be codependent, or messy, or lack of communication. When you get older, you find people who are actually right for you, that are actually on the same wavelength.”
Gomez also touched upon the hard lessons she’s learned from relationships in the past, seemingly referencing her history with Bieber.
“You’re in a phase of life where you experience love for the first time and I think that can just be a little toxic,” she said. “When you’re young, you have this codependency that you think is love, and then you have this addiction to the passion and the frustration with each other and you think, ‘Oh that’s love.’ I believed that for a long time.”
Immediately after Gomez’s new song, “Love You to Love Me,” and its music video were released last week, fans began analyzing the lyrics, convinced that the song is a formal farewell to her relationship with Bieber.
During her chat, Gomez assured fans that although she misses being in love, she’s doing just fine as a single woman.
“I’m chillin right now, you guys,” she stated. “Honestly that [dating] is so stressful so I’ve been having way too much fun being on my own. It sucked for the first year, I was like, ‘I just wanna cuddle, I just wanna watch something and be adored.’ Now it feels good. Now it feels awesome.”

HARRY CONNICK JR. GETS STAR ON HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME – (10/25/2019)
A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was unveiled Thursday honoring Harry Connick Jr. for a career in which he has sold more than 30 million albums, had 13 No. 1 jazz albums, and won three Grammys and two Emmys.
His wife, model Jill Goodacre, and their three daughters, Georgia, Charlotte and Sarah, were on-hand for the presentation of the star, which is located near that of late songwriter Cole Porter, an idol of Connick’s.
Renee Zellweger, his co-star in the 2009 movie New in Town, spoke at the event. “Among the many folks who have gifted the world artistic treasure, some have been blessed with such degrees of genius and originality, it sets them apart. Not every generation is blessed with an original, but we are and since he is standing right here conveniently, let’s embarrass Harry with the evidence,” the Oscar-winner said, rattling off a list of his many accomplishments.
Connick Jr. is also known for his roles in the films Memphis Belle, Copycat, Independence Day, Hope Floats and The Iron Giant.
The ceremony comes one day before the release of his Connick’s album, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter, what Connick describes as “the first time I’ve taken a deep dive into another artist’s repertoire.” Connick’s star is next to Porter’s. The placement was coincidental, said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

TAYLOR SWIFT SINGS NEW SONG ‘BEAUTIFUL GHOSTS’ FOR ‘CATS’ – (10/25/2019)
Taylor Swift collaborated with famed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber for “Beautiful Ghosts,” a new song for the upcoming Cats movie.
Universal Pictures dropped a featurette about the making of the song and it includes a clip of Taylor recording it in the studio.
“Beautiful Ghosts” will be performed by Francesca Hayward in the movie and Taylor has recorded her own version for the film’s end credits.
“When I first read the screenplay, the first thing I said was, ‘We have to have a song for Victoria,’” composer Andrew Lloyd Webber said. “Beautiful Ghosts [is now] an incredibly important and central part of the whole film.”
“What I couldn’t believe was the extraordinary beauty of these lyrics that Taylor had written,” director Tom Hooper said. “It was as if someone had come into the film I was in the middle of making and … had reflected back to me a profound understanding of what we are trying to do with the movie. It was utterly thrilling.”
Taylor added, “You can’t write a modern lyric for Cats. So if you can’t get T.S. Eliot, get T.S… I’m here for you.”
Meanwhile, Taylor is celebrating her 13th music anniversary in the best way.
Taking to Instagram yesterday, the 29-year-old shared a throwback pic from one of her first ever concerts, and paired it with a massive thank you to her fans.
“I said in an interview 13 years ago ‘I’m just hoping that I have a second album that does as well as the first and someday get to be a headliner, and always be the same person that I started out as,’” Taylor recalled with the Instagram post. “Scrolling through your posts today has me feeling all the feelings & I want to thank you.”
She adds, “Because of you, there was a 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th and 7th album. You guys made me into a headliner because you wanted to see me play. And your support all these years is what’s helped me stay true to that kid I was when I started out. #13yearsoftaylorswift.”
