PINK TO RECEIVE BILLBOARD’S LEGEND OF LIVE AWARD – (09/19/2019)

Pink is set to become the first female solo artist to receive Billboard’s Legends of Live award.

Pink will accept the honor at the 2019 Billboard Live Music Summit & Awards, which take place November 5-6 in Beverly Hills. The Legend of Live award recognizes achievements in touring and live performance. Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Journey, Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie, Bon Jovi are among the previous recipients.

Pink completed her Beautiful Trauma world tour in August. The tour sold over 3 million tickets and grossed $397.3 million, the 10th highest-grossing tour in Billboard’s Boxscore history.

“Between her mesmerizing live performances, her high-flying visual acrobatics and her incredible catalog of music that includes 32 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and three Billboard No. 1 albums, there is no artist more deserving of this award than Pink,” Billboard senior director of live and touring Dave Brooks said in a statement. “Her Beautiful Trauma tour is a historic feat of endurance and artistic excellence and we are honored that she will be joining us in Beverly Hills to celebrate this record-breaking achievement.”

Pink will attend the summit with Hootie and the Blowfish, deadmau5 and other artists. The event features panels, artist interviews and executive Q&As with people in music, comedy and live entertainment.

Pink will perform shows October 5th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and November 2nd in Austin, Texas. She released her eighth studio album, Hurts 2B Human, in April.

KATY PERRY SAYS SHE AND TAYLOR SWIFT WANTED TO SET AN EXAMPLE FOR YOUNGER FANS BY ENDING THEIR BEEF: In a new episode of the Ellen Degeneres Show, Katy Perry revealed that she and Taylor Swift wanted to set an example for their younger fans by ending their beef. She said, “It was actually just a misunderstanding but we have such big groups of people that like to follow us, and so they kind of started turning against each other a little bit too.” She continued, “It was really unfortunate, but we made amends and I’m all about redemption and forgiveness and for setting an example for those younger people that it can be cool to ask for forgiveness and confront someone that you may have an issue with or a problem with and talk it out.”

REAL LIFE RAMONA SHADES J.LO FOR ‘HUSTLERS’ ROLE: TMZ caught up with the woman inspired by Jennifer Lopez‘s role in Hustlers. Samantha Barbash revealed that a deal wasn’t made with her before the movie was made. She said a Hustlers producer contacted her to see if she would sign her rights away — and she claimed the offer was disrespectful. She also revealed that she is very unhappy that J.Lo never contacted her about playing her and she thinks it shows in the movie. (TMZ)

‘PRINCESS BRIDE’ STAR CARY ELWES RESPOND TO REMAKE RUMORS: Princess Bride star Cary Elwes has slammed rumors of a remake of the classic film.  Sony Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra recently told Variety that “very famous people” want to redo the film. Elwes — who starred as “Wesley” responded by paraphrasing one of his lines in the movie, “There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one.” Jamie Lee Curtis also responded to the rumors, saying, “Oh really? Well, I married the six fingered man, obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years and there is only ONE The Princess Bride and it’s William Goldman and @robreiner’s. “Life is pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!” Mia Farrow also tweeted, “Theres a rumor afoot that someone wants to remake ‘Princess Bride’ which is a terrible idea. MARK-PAUL GOSSELAAR SAYS NO ONE REACHED OUT TO HIM ABOUT ‘SBTB’ REBOOT: Mark-Paul Gosselaar has revealed that no one has reached out to him regarding the upcoming Saved By The Bell reboot that will air on NBCUniversal’s new Peacock streaming service. Gosselaar told TMZ that as far as he knows, several of his other former costars havent been contacted yet either. He wishes those who are involved, including Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley and writer Tracey Wigfield, nothing but the best, and said that if producers want him back, he would join the reboot. (TMZ)

The actress and her fiance Cooke Maroney were spotted at New York City’s marriage bureau yesterday (September 16th). A social media user told Page Six that the couple looked casual at the courthouse, saying, “When you go get your marriage license and Jennifer Lawrence walks by to tie the knot before your eyes. Yeah, kids, City Hall is COOL. The place to go!” The publication reported that the pair could have gotten their marriage license and may not be married just yet.

TAYLOR SWIFT RETURNS TO ‘THE VOICE’ AS A MEGA MENTOR – (09/17/2019)

NBC announced that Taylor Swift is returning to The Voice as the Mega Mentor.

A video shared on The Voice Instagram and Twitter shows Blake Shelton and John Legend sitting outside a trailer talking about a new superstar joining the show. They act like they have no idea who it could be, and then Swift emerges from her trailer and says hi. They greet her and realize that Swift is joining the show. Swift will work with coaches Legend, Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani and their singers to prepare them for the Knockout Round.

Swift served as a Mega Mentor on Season 7 of “The Voice” and performed her single “ME!” with Brendon Urie on the Season 16 finale. The coaches will still choose the winners of the Knockout Rounds to determine who will make it to the Live Performance Shows. This season, The Voice only gives each coach one chance to steal singers who the coaches do not select. The Voice returns September 23rd

Lover, Swift’s seventh studio album, released last month with a music video for the title track. Her Mega Mentor credentials include 10 Grammys, 23 American Music Awards, 23 Billboard Music Awards and 400 total career awards. She is performing in the film adaptation of Cats due in theaters December 20th.

MEGHAN TRAINOR REMAKING THE ‘FRIENDS’ THEME – (09/17/2019)

Meghan Trainor has been tapped to record a new version of “I’ll Be There for You,” the theme song from Friends.

Meghan cut the new version to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the beloved NBC sitcom. On September 22nd at 8:30 p.m. [ET] – the exact day and time that Friends debuted back in 1994 – Meghan’s version of the song will debut as the soundtrack to a music-to-light show at New York’s Empire State Building. The building will be lit up in the red, yellow and blue colors of the Friends logo.

“I can’t believe Warner Bros. asked me to do this,” Meghan says in a statement. “I’m so honored! I’m so excited that I get to be a part of celebrating such a legendary and iconic show like Friends!”

Following the premiere, her version of the song will be available at all digital retailers at midnight.

Other famous landmarks around the world that will light up at 8:30 p.m. local time are The London Eye Ferris wheel; the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which is the world’s tallest building; Chicago’s Willis Tower; New Orleans’ Superdome; Dallas’ Reunion Tower and AT&T Headquarters and L.A.’s U.S. Bank Tower.

The original Friends theme was recorded by the duo The Rembrandts. It was released as a single in 1995, and reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. 

Ironically, Trainor’s husband Daryl Sabara (best known for his role as Juni Cortez in Spy Kids) appeared as a guest star in the show’s 10th and final season. He played Owen, the child Chandler accidentally tells he’s adopted. “When he showed me that episode and I remembered it was him, I freaked out,” Trainor says. “It plays on airplanes when we travel, and we always pop it on and we still scream every time.”

RIHANNA REPORTEDLY INKS PUBLISHING DEAL WITH SONY – (09/17/2019)

Rihanna has reportedly inked a publishing deal with Sony/ATV. According to Billboard, the announcement was made on Monday (September 16th), stating that the deal will cover Rihanna’s full songwriting catalog and future projects. 

Variety also reports that Rihanna has made history as the first entertainer to follow Jon Platt — chairman, and CEO of Sony/ATV, after he stepped into the executive seat in April 2019. Platt said about Rih’s new deal, “I’m proud to have known Rihanna since the beginning of her career. Music, fashion, philanthropy and a heart of gold have solidified Rihanna’s position as one of the biggest icons in the world.” 

According to VIBE, Rihanna as a laundry list of musical achievements including “14 Billboard Hot 100 No.1s, nine Grammy Awards, and seven RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums. 

Rih has not yet spoken on the deal.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE TEAMS WITH TIGER WOODS TO RAISE MILLIONS FOR THE BAHAMAS – (09/16/2019)

Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods are coming to the aid of the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian caused catastrophic damage to the islands.

“The Bahamas is a really special place to me. I’ve spent a lot of time there over the years, both with my family and in the studio, so I want to do all I can to help and I hope you will too,” Timberlake wrote on Instagram.

Timberlake is teaming up with Tiger Woods and some corporate partners to establish the One Bahamas Fund, which will help “raise money and support for the restoration and rebuilding” efforts. Justin, Tiger and their corporate partners have already pledged $6 million toward relief and rebuilding. Tiger says in a statement, “Our hope is that others will join us in the effort so we can actually raise $12 million or more.” It’s horrifying to see the videos and hear the stories about the effects of Hurricane Dorian,” Woods said. “We’re matching each contribution dollar for dollar so if someone gives $100, we’ll match it and from that one pledge, we raise $200.”

Justin wrote, “The damage and devastation the residents are facing after #HurricaneDorian is unfathomable so we’re matching dollar for dollar the next $6 million raised. If you give $1 we’ll match it so we can hopefully turn that $6 million into $12 million, together.”

KELLY CLARKSON TO HOST AN ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ SEASON ONE REUNION ON HER TALK SHOW: Kelly Clarkson is staging an American Idol Season one reunion on her talk show. According to EW, on September 18th, The Kelly Clarkson Show will welcome original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, along with Season one runner-up Justin Guarini. Kelly and Justin were the final two contestants on the first season of American Idol back in 2002. She and Justin later teamed up for the universally reviled movie From Justin to Kelly. Ryan Seacrest, who continues to host American Idol on ABC, will also join via satellite, according to Cowell, who mock-complained to Extra, “I told him I flew in from London to be there, he stayed in New York.”

LINDSAY LOHAN REACHES OUT TO HEMSWORTH BROS ON INSTAGRAM – (09/16/2019)

Lindsay Lohan seems to be vying for Liam Hemsworth’s attention following his split from Miley Cyrus. Liam appears to be the only single remaining in a quick-fast Hollywood recoupling: Miley has moved on with Kaitlynn Carter, who just split from Brody Jenner, who is now with Josie Canseco.

Lindsay hit on Liam in the comments section of an E! News repost of a selfie of Liam and Chris Hemsworth

“It’s an age old debate: Chris or Liam Hemsworth? GO!” the E! News account captioned the selfie.

“Why didn’t we meet in sydney or bondi?!” Lindsay responded in the comments.

Liam, 29, and Chris, 36, have been hanging in Australia since the split.

BEYONCE’S ‘HOMECOMING’ SNUBBED AT THE CREATIVE ARTS EMMYS – (09/16/2019)

Beyoncé was snubbed at the Creative Arts Emmys and the Beyhive is not having it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bey’s Netflix special Homecoming was nominated for six Emmys: outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), outstanding costumes for variety, non-fiction or reality programming; outstanding directing for a variety special; outstanding music direction; outstanding production design for a variety special and outstanding writing for a variety special. Beyoncé was also listed as a nominee in four of those categories, all but outstanding costumes and production design. 

However, the documentary went home empty handed. 

Homecoming was beat out by was beat out by Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool for best variety special (pre-recorded); by RuPaul’s Drag Race for best costumes for variety, nonfiction or reality programming; by Springsteen on Broadway for best directing for a variety special; by Fosse/Verdon for best music direction; by Rent for outstanding production design for a variety special; and by Hannah Gadsby: Nanette for best writing for a variety special. 

Members of the Beyhive immediately took to Twitter to vent about Bey’s snub. One person wrote, “Beyonce’s homecoming was just too black for them to honor it’s beauty and give it a caucasian award.” Another said, “But forreal Beyoncé hard working a** prepared of Coachella FOR 8 MONTHS while recovering from almost dying because of her pregnancy and pushed herself of f**king hard for the Emmys to CONSIDER Carpool f**king Karaoke WAS BETTER THAN BEYCHELLA? YALL SEE THE PROBLEM?”
