SHAWN MENDES GETS NEW TATTOO SUGGESTED BY A FAN – (07/23/2019)

Shawn Mendes loved a fan edit so much, he got it tattooed on him.

Last week, a fan named Kayla posted two photos of Mendes on Twitter sporting an intricately designed butterfly tattoo on his left arm. Kayla revealed that she edited the tattoo onto Mendes’s forearm using an app called Picsart and posted it with the caption, “Shawn mendes with a butterfly tattoo. I rest my case.”

Shawn saw the tweet and replied, “Wait this is awesome, can u DM the drawing??” The fan shared screenshots of Shawn messaging her, asking her how she managed to put the tattoo on his arm. He requested the artwork as well, which she sent him, along with the name of the artist who’d created the butterfly drawing she’d used for the photo.

On Friday during his show in Kansas City, Shawn said he might get the tattoo within a week.  By Sunday, he’d posted a photo on his Instagram Story of his tattoo artist inking the artwork onto his arm.

The ecstatic fan posted a photo of Shawn with his new tattoo. “Who would’ve thought that me messing around and editing a tattoo onto him would turn into a reality??? no words,” she wrote. The artist, Livia Tsang, who designed the butterfly drawing was also thrilled. The fan posted a screenshot of a conversation in which he wrote, “Are you the girl who edited the photo with my design? Thank you very much seriously!”

KATY PERRY TESTIFIES IN COURT FOR ‘DARK HORSE’ COPYRIGHT TRIAL – (07/22/2019)

Katy Perry took the stand on the first day of her copyright infringement trial for her song, “Dark Horse,” featuring Juicy J.

Perry is being sued by Christian rapper Flame, real name Marcus Gray, who says “Dark Horse” uses the underlying beat from his song “Joyful Noise” featuring Lecrae. In her testimony Thursday, Perry said that herself and the song’s creators, which include Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Juicy J and Sarah Hudson, had never heard of “Joyful Noise” or of Gray before the lawsuit.

“I could perform it for you live,” Perry said after her attorneys encountered technical difficulties with playing “Dark Horse” in the courtroom.

Da Truth, real name Emmanuel Lambert Jr., who co-wrote “Joyful Noise,” also took the stand and said the track was a hit in the Christian music scene and was widely available on platforms such as YouTube. Perry’s attorney said that there is no evidence that “Joyful Noise” was widely distributed and that it defied “common sense that “her clients would have heard it due to the song’s obscurity. She also argued that the underlying beat is too common and short to be copyright protected. The trial is slated to pick up again on Tuesday.

JUSTIN BIEBER URGES DONALD TRUMP TO SAVE CHILDREN IN ICE DETENTION CENTERS AFTER HELPING A$AP ROCKY – (07/22/2019)

Justin Bieber is asking for Donald Trump’s help after he showed support for A$AP Rocky.

Bieber took to Twitter to first thank Trump for his efforts to help A$AP, who is currently imprisoned in Sweden. Justin’s comments took a turn when he asked Trump to also help the thousands of children trapped in ICE detention centers at the border.

“I want my friend out.. I appreciate you trying to help him. But while your at it @realDonaldTrump can you also let those kids out of cages?” Justin tweeted.

Trump has yet to respond.

Last week, a 32-page report from the House Oversight Committee’s staff said the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy was “more harmful, traumatic and chaotic” than previously known and resulted in the separation of migrant children from their families between April and June 2018.

KEVIN SMITH OPENS UP ABOUT REPAIRING RELATIONSHIP WITH BEN AFFLECK – (07/22/2019)

After not talking for “nearly a decade,” Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith have reunited. Filmmaker Smith recruited Affleck, 46, for the upcoming Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, a sequel to 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, in which he also starred. (But also to Smith’s entire oeuvre, including Chasing Amy, in which Affleck starred as well).

At Comic-Con, Smith, 48, shared a sweet selfie of the pair and opened up in a caption about the happy ending to a long estrangement.

In Reboot, Affleck will reprise his role as Holden from Chasing Amy, but the scene that Smith now dubs “magical and life-affirming” almost didn’t happen.

“When we started shooting the movie, the scene didn’t exist. This scene — and more importantly, my reunion with a guy who I’ve missed terribly for nearly a decade — only happened because of [entertainment journalist Kevin McCarthy],” Smith revealed.

It happened because Affleck was recently asked in an interview if he was involved in Reboot. “Ben said no, but he was available,” Smith wrote.

Smith says he figured he wasn’t serious, but he still “finally” reached out.

“I was scared to be rejected, but I texted him, ‘To paraphrase the sad old King Osric in Conan the Barbarian? There comes a time when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a director’s love for the people he used to make pretend with,’” Smith said. “And after a long beat of wondering how he’d receive this, my estranged friend wrote back as only he could: ‘Of course you still liken yourself to a king,’ he joked. And then ‘Would be a pleasure to see you again, Old Man.’ “

“So naturally, weepy me — who breaks down emotionally during comic book flicks —  was a blubbery mess,” Smith wrote. “Not only did we score an amazing scene for the flick, but I also got my friend back — all because of entertainment journalism.”

Smith added, “It … brought back a massive missing piece of my heart.”

While the full story behind their estrangement is unclear, a Twitter user asked them in November and Smith responded: “If I had to guess? It’s because one of us has a big mouth and told too many candid stories that sometimes weren’t his to tell, and the other one is Ben.”

POPSICLE’S DOUBLE POPS MAKING A COMEBACK DUE TO JUSTIN BIEBER – (07/19/2019)

One of the most popular frozen treats of all time may be staging a comeback thanks to Justin Bieber.

In May, both Bieber and manager Scooter Braun took to social media when they realized that Popsicle’s Double Pops were nowhere to be found.

On Twitter, Bieber tagged Popsicle, saying “We need those back!” Braun made his own post on Instagram, calling it an “outrage!!!”

Popsicle took notice and responded to Bieber’s tweet, saying “we’ll see what we can do for you.” Now, Popsicle has announced that a limited batch of the Double Pops has been made. And, for 100k retweets, Popsicle promises to make the comeback permanent.

Given that Bieber already retweeted Popsicle’s tweet to his 106 million followers, the goal should be reached in no time, though Popsicle won’t announce the outcome until July 23rd.

SEE TAYLOR SWIFT AS BOMBALURINA IN NEW ‘CATS’ TRAILER – (07/19/2019)

The official trailer for Cats has arrived, featuring Taylor Swift in the role of Bombalurina.

Swift will star in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical alongside Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, and many others. They are all digitally covered in fur, yet still recognizable, dancing and doing cat-like things in London, which seems enormous because everything is seen from a cat’s point of view.

The trailer, which runs more than two minutes, gives us the first look at Taylor in character as Bombalurina, lying in a hammock, sprinkling catnip from a sequined canister.

Jennifer Hudson, as Grizabella, belts out the movie’s best-known number, “Memory.

Based on the wildly popular musical of the same name, Cats follows a group of “Jellicle cats,” who vie to be selected by their leader, Old Deuteronomy, to travel to the “Heaviside layer” to start a new life.

The trailer was met with mixed reactions.

Social media users found the combination of real people and CGI a bit unnerving – especially since the actors almost look naked in their feline get-ups. “Somehow the people in Cats look more nude than if they were actually nude, and it’s weird as hell,” wrote one Twitter user.

Some couldn’t resist comparing the reaction to Cats to the recent response when Sonic the Hedgehog revealed its own movie character. The reaction was so negative that Sony went back to the drawing board to fix the character’s appearance.

And the size of the cat-actors when combined with the sets seems off to some. “I own a very small cat,” wrote users tweeted. “She does not look this tiny on my bed.”

Cats hits movie theaters December 20th.
