ED SHEERAN DISCUSSES HIS ‘NO.6 COLLABORATIONS PROJECT’ WITH CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD – (05/29/2019)
Ed Sheeran recently sat down with Charlamagne Tha God to discuss his forthcoming No.6 Collaborations Project.
Their conversation is streaming exclusively on Ed’s YouTube channel now. During the convo, Ed explained the project’s origin. “Before I was signed [to a label], I made lots of EPs, and I made an eight-track EP called No. 5 Collaborations Project with a load of UK rappers that I was a big fan of at the time,” Sheeran explained in the exclusive interview. Since then, he said, he’d been featured on other musicians’ work but hadn’t brought on collaborators or guest features on his own albums.
“It was when I [worked with] Beyoncé and Andrea Bocelli, and I had them both on the ‘Perfect’ single, that I started a thing on my laptop, ‘No. 6 Collaborations,’” said Sheeran. “And just throughout the year while I was on tour, any time I met anyone that I’d been a fan of, it was the first time I’d been able to be like, ‘Let’s get in the studio’.” He added:
[“With this record, I kind of want to put it out, and then run from it. I don’t see it as the next stage of my career, it’s just something I made and I want to put out. For me, this is a compilation album of artists that I’m a fan of.”]
When CTG poked fun at Sheeran by saying that if a particular artist didn’t make the cut on the project, then he wasn’t really a fan of them, Ed responded:
“It was all very, very natural. The last thing I wanted to do was kind of have the label be like, ‘You need to work with this person.’ My rule for it was if I have it and I play it in my car, I’m working with them. There’s lots of artists that are huge and I could’ve worked with, which would’ve made no sense to me.”]
Ed drew on an unlikely source of inspiration in Christina Aguilera’s girl power “Lady Marmalade” collab that led to him working with Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars:
[“This project actually started with one idea I had. You remember ‘Lady Marmalade?’ I had an idea of doing that. I was like, ‘Oh, you can get Bruno, Bieber, and me on a record. How fun would that be?’ The first person I rung was Bruno. He was just like, ‘Let’s just do a song. Just us’.”]
No. 6 Collaborations Project will feature “I Don’t Care,” with Justin Bieber, as well as Sheeran’s latest single “Cross Me” with Chance the Rapper and PnB Rock. Sheeran has released the tracklist for the compilation, but has kept the other collaborators a secret. No.6 Collaborations Project comes out July 12th.

KANYE WEST OPENS UP ABOUT HOSPITALIZATION WITH DAVID LETTERMAN – (05/29/2019)
Kanye West has spoken candidly about his hospitalization during an appearance on Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. Kanye reveals that he now sees psychiatrists in his home. He also describe when he became “hyper-paranoid” a few years ago and ended up in the hospital.
Ye explained, “You feel everyone wants to kill you, you pretty much don’t trust everyone, and they have this moment where they handcuff you, they drug you, they put you on the bed, and they separate you from everyone you know.”
West went on to say, “That’s something that I’m so happy I experienced myself so I can start by changing that moment. When you are in that state, you have to have someone you trust. It is cruel and primitive to do that.”
Kanye also said that he wants to end the discrimination against those suffering with mental health issues and compared it to having a “sprained ankle.” He continued, “If someone has a sprained ankle, you’re not gonna push on him more. With us, once our brain gets to a point of spraining, people do everything to make it worse. They do everything possible. They got us to that point, and then they do everything to make it worse.”
He later revealed that he has not taken his medication in eight months, and that he believes he is in a much more creative space. The rapper added, “You know, if you guys want these crazy ideas, these crazy stages, this crazy music, and this crazy way of thinking, there’s a chance it might come from a crazy person.”
Kanye’s appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman is set to air on May 31st.

TAYLOR SWIFT SAYS THERE ARE ‘POLITICAL UNDERTONES’ IN NEW MUSIC – (05/28/2019)
Taylor Swift is giving more insight on her upcoming album, seventh album.
During a recent interview with Elle, the 29-year-old revealed that there will be some “political undertones” in her new music.
“I definitely think there are political undertones in the new music I made,” Taylor said. “I’m not planning to stop encouraging young people to vote and to try to get them to talk about what’s going on in our country. I think that’s one of the most important things I could do.”
Over the years, Taylor has kept her political opinions to herself, but back in November 2018, she broke her silence on her beliefs to support the Democratic candidates in Tennessee while encouraging her fans to register to vote in their local elections.
Meanwhile, Taylor has dropped a huge hint about the title of her new album. While speaking with The Independent, Taylor shared that the title is something you see “once and you hear it twice.” The word “Lover” is the big sign in the music video of “ME!” at the 1:55 mark – and she and Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie (who is also featured on the track) sing “lover” twice in the song’s lyrics. With this in mind, many fans have been able to draw conclusions that Swift’s album title may be “Lover.”

ARIANA GRANDE REACTS TO MADAME TUSSAUDS WAX FIGURE AMID CRITICISM – (05/28/2019)
When Madame Tussauds London unveiled their latest wax figure of Ariana Grande, fans sounded off on social media – and not in a positive way.
Turns out, Ari is not such a fan either. In an Instagram post shared by Pop Crave News, which featured a photo of the replica, Grande simply wrote in the comments section: “I just wanna talk.”
Back in April, Madame Tussauds London had asked fans to vote on which “Ari-inspired style” they wanted for the wax figure, requesting they choose between “Classic Ari,” “Sassy Ari” and “Princess Ari.” In a tweet, the museum confirmed fans had chosen “Classic Ari.”
“Now we have her style nailed, you can see @ArianaGrande at Madame Tussauds London for 5 weeks from Friday,” the unveiling tweet said.
However, fans weren’t thrilled with the figure, with one person saying: “This looks… nothing like her.”
“Nothing against the work, but … that’s really bad …” another person wrote.
“This is NOT ARI,” one fan added. “What did y’all do to her face ???”
Another person said: “The longer I look,, the more confused I get.”
Ariana is currently on her Sweetener World Tour, and will be stopping at the Amalie Arena tonight in Tampa, Florida.

POST MALONE DEFENDS LIL NAS X FROM UPSET COUNTRY FANS – (05/28/2019)
STATIONS: Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive to your audience.
Post Malone is defending rapper Lil Nas X from online hate from country music fans.
Lil Nas X has faced a lot of backlash from the country music community about his No. 1 song “Old Town Road” which was initially removed from the country charts for “not being country enough.”
Now he’s facing even more backlash after his campaign with Wrangler was announced. Some country fans claim Lil Nas X is “appropriating” their culture and that he shouldn’t be the spokesperson of the brand saying that he isn’t even a country artist. Some even threatened to boycott the brand. However, Post Malone says they all need to just chill out.
In an interview with TMZ, Posty discussed what’s going on with Lil Nas X.
“I think people should be able to f*cking make whatever the hell they want to,” he said. “I feel like even now in modern country there’s a lot of 808s and sh*t anyways. … All the country artists now are rapping too. I don’t necessarily see the difference.”
Post also spoke on the recent backlash over Lil Nas X’s deal with jeans line Wrangler. “It’s just pants,” Post said. “I don’t understand it. Music’s just f*cking music and if you wear Wranglers, who gives a sh*t.”

ADAM LEVINE LEAVING ‘THE VOICE’ – (05/27/2019)
After 16 seasons, Adam Levine is saying so long to The Voice.
Host Carson Daly announced on NBC’s Today Friday morning that the Maroon 5 frontman will not return for Season 17. Instead, past coach Gwen Stefani will fill his seat. Levine and fellow coach Blake Shelton are the only coaches who have been on The Voice from the show’s start in 2011.
Shelton tweeted, “Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed both of ours lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.”
A member of Adam’s team has won The Voice only three times in the show’s run: Javier Colon, in season one; Tessanne Chin, in season five; and season nine’s Jordan Smith.
Season 16 of The Voice wrapped up last Tuesday night with Team John Legend’s Maelyn Jarmon voted the champ.
Levine posted a lengthy statement on Instagram after the news broke. He began by thanking the show’s creator, Mark Burnett, and reminisced about the very first season of the show eight years ago.
“We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going,” Adam wrote. “After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself ‘there’s some magic here. Something is definitely happening.’”
He continued, “It went on to be a life shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever. Thank you NBC for signing me up. I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life.”
Adam went on to thank “every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with,” host Carson Daly, the crew, the contestants, and everyone who has supported the show along the way.
He particularly singled out his bromance partner, Blake Shelton. “I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it,” he writes about Blake. “Our friendship is and always will be one for the books.”
He also told returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and John Legend to “take care of the cowboy and I’m sure I’ll be back to say hi very very soon.”
Adam concluded with a message to the fans: “For me, it was time to move on. Your support has meant EVERYTHING…What an amazing ride. Thank you all so much.”
Levine reportedly wasn’t happy with all the rule changes The Voice was undergoing. Due to a rule change after Season 15, each coach didn’t automatically go to the Live Playoffs with the same number of team members, and by the time the semifinals rolled around Levine had zero singers left under his direction. His frustration bubbled over during the taping of these semifinals. Sources told Page Six that Levine was “very difficult” during the taping and offered no feedback to the other judges’ team members.
Though he’s leaving The Voice, Levine isn’t departing the NBC fold entirely. He’s an executive producer of the network’s songwriter competition Songland, which premieres May 28th, and his 222 Productions is developing a drama project at Universal TV.

KELLY CLARKSON TRIPS AT INDY 500 – (05/27/2019)
Kelly Clarkson narrowly avoided falling in her platform sandals at the Indy 500 on Sunday, where she performed the National Anthem.
A fan caught the mishap on tape and uploaded it to Twitter. In the clip, the star almost tumbles while walking on a red carpet but then recovers with a smile and a curtsy.
After the video got several hundred retweets, Clarkson herself caught wind of it. She took the joke in stride, writing: “best part of my day is always revealing to people that might not know how utterly not cool I am. That damn crack was hidden by the carpet man! #Indy500.”
Fans appreciated her down-to-earth humor, and praised the singer for being real.
“But you are cool! You know how to not take yourself so seriously! That’s why we love you that much more!” one user wrote.

TAYLOR SWIFT SHARES NEW PLAYLIST OF SONGS SHE’S ‘LOVING RIGHT NOW’ – (05/27/2019)
Taylor Swift has created a new list for Apple Music of songs she’s loving right now, called “Playlist by ME!”
Included on the list are “What a Time” by Julia Michaels and Niall Horan, “Want You in My Room” by Carly Rae Jepsen, “New Eyes” by Adam Lambert, “Juice” by Lizzo, “Free Spirit” by Khalid, and “Thinkin Bout You,” by Ciara.
Taylor also features the song “Look Ma, I Made It” by her “ME!” duet partner Brendon Urie’s band, Panic! at the Disco, and the song “Chapstick” by her buddy, Todrick Hall.
“These songs are the soundtrack to my story at the moment,” Taylor writes in a description of the playlist. “I love this playlist for kitchen dance parties, long drives home, sun-soaked reflection, or aggressive bopping. All songs have been loved and appreciated by ME!”
Meanwhile, Taylor, who turns 30 this December, recently had to shut down a rather sexist question about the milestone during an interview with a German radio station.
After an interviewer for Germany’s RTL station asked her if turning 30 is a “turning point” for her when it comes to settling down, getting married to boyfriend Joe Alwyn and having kids, Swift pointed out the double standard and quickly moved on. “I really doubt men get asked the same question when they turn 30,” she said. “So I’m not going to answer that question now.”
