FEDS URGE DRAKE FANS NOT TO JUMP OUT OF MOVING CARS TO DO THE ‘IN MY FEELINGS’ DANCE CHALLENGE – (07/30/2018)

A viral dance challenge has catapulted Drake’s “In My Feelings” to No. 1, but it’s also caused thousands of fans to jump out of moving cars to show off their moves on video.

“When we saw this trend, we wanted to remind people what should be common sense, to not hop out of a moving vehicle,” Christopher T. O’Neil, National transportation Safety Board’s Chief of Media Relations tells USA Today. “The dance floor is the right place for dance moves, not our nation’s roads and highways.” “In 2016, more than 37,000 people were killed on our nation’s roads and 10 percent of those were related to distracted driving,” he adds.

“We understand people want to have fun but there are a lot of risks” O’Neil says. “Park your car some place and film your dance moves somewhere else.”

The Safety Board also tweeted, “We have some thoughts about the #InMyFeelings challenge. #Distraction in any mode is dangerous & can be deadly. Whether you are a #driver, #pilot, or #operator, focus on safely operating your vehicle.”

More than a few would-be participants took to social media to share their failed versions of the challenge, also known as the #KekeChallenge.

Will Smith said the challenge almost got him killed when he climbed to the top of a bridge in Budapest, Hungary to do the dance. He called his stunt “social media stupidity.”

The comedian known as Shiggy started the trend when he posted a video last month. Since then, the “In My Feelings” challenge caught fire.

TAYLOR SWIFT DONATES ‘REPUTATION TOUR’ TICKETS TO GRIEVING POLICE DEPARTMENT: Taylor Swift is giving back to a grieving Massachusetts community. The 28-year-old singer donated “a significant number of tickets” to the town of Weymouth for her upcoming reputation Tour shows nearby. The tickets were distributed to the local police department, who recently lost Sgt. Michael Chesna, who was shot and killed while investigating a car crash earlier this month. Mayor Robert Hedlund said there were enough tickets to send “every police officer, firefighter and extended family to the concert, and then some.” He added that the extras were passed on to other nearby police departments. “My understanding is that they did it low-key and weren’t looking for publicity…The gesture was absolutely generous, significant and appreciated,” Hedlund said.
