PRINCE CHARLES DIAGNOSED WITH CORONAVIRUS, GETS SUPPORT FROM HARRY & WILLIAMS – (03/26/2020)

Prince Charles, the 71-year-old heir to the British throne, has been diagnosed with coronavirus, Buckingham Palace confirmed. 

“He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual,” the palace said in a statement. It added that his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, “has also been tested but does not have the virus.”

Charles began showing symptoms last weekend. Medical advisers say that Charles is in good health and is expected to recover. However, there is some concern over his meeting with Queen Elizabeth, who is 93, on March 12th. The Palace said that the Queen remains “in good health.” She is sequestered with her husband, the 98-year-old Prince Philip, in Windsor Castle. 

Charles is isolated at Birkhall, away from his wife Camilla, who is reportedly in good health. 

Royal reporter Chris Ship said on Twitter that “Prince Charles has spoken to both his sons. William in Norfolk and Harry in Canada.”

All of the royals are isolating in separate locations.

HEIDI KLUM TESTS NEGATIVE: Model Heidi Klum shared that she tested negative for coronavirus a week after her husband Tom Kaulitz also learning that he was negative. She has been home sick for 14 days and sharing regular updates on social media. 

CHEF FLOYD CARDOZ DIES AT 59: Chef Floyd Cardoz died on Wednesday from complications resulting from coronavirus. He was 59, and he was at Mountainside Medical Centre in New Jersey. The Top Chef Masters champ was born in Bombay, India and moved to NYC to work in restaurant kitchens. In 1997, he partnered with Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group to open Tabla. “Bravo and the Top Chef family are deeply saddened by the passing of Chef Floyd Cardoz. Floyd was a talented chef who competed and won Top Chef Masters,” a representative for the network tells People in a statement. “He was thoughtful, kind and his smile illuminated a room. He was an inspiration to chefs around the world and we offer our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.”

2020 TONY AWARDS POSTPONED – (03/26/2020)

Another major entertainment event has been delayed due to coronavirus. The 2020 Tony Awards, scheduled to air Sunday, June 7 on CBS, will be postponed because of the pandemic. Nominations and host were to be announced April 28th. Last year, James Corden hosted.  

A new date will be shared once Broadway reopens. When Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a ban on gatherings of 500 people or more on March 12th, all 41 Broadway theaters were forced to shut their doors. There is some hope that they will reopen on April 12, but as the pandemic continues to accelerate, that hope is fading.

Even if Broadway does reopen on April 12th, this pause will mark the longest hiatus in history for the Great White Way.

Several shows, including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Hangmen have closed for good before opening. Three others—Lincoln Center Theater‘s Flying Over Sunset and Roundabout Theatre Company’s Debra Messing-led Birthday Candles and Caroline, or Change—have been pushed to the fall.

BILLIE EILISH, DUA LIPA, BTS & MORE PERFORMING ON JAMES CORDEN’S ‘HOMEFEST’ SPECIAL – (03/26/2020)

James Corden is putting together a mini music festival that you can enjoy at home while social distancing.

Homefest, a special edition episode of CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden, will feature musical performances from artists around the globe while they’re quarantined amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Billie Eilish and her brother/collaborator, Finneas, will be playing from their home in Los Angeles, while Dua Lipa will check in from London. BTS will perform from South Korea, and legendary opera singer Andrea Boccelli will check in from his home in Italy.

Celebrities including Will Ferrell and David Blaine will also guest on the special. Homefest airs March 30th at 10 p.m. [ET/PT].

he special will also feature Corden and his guests encouraging viewers to follow public health guidelines to slow the spread of the new coronavirus and the illness it causes, COVID-19. It will also direct viewers to donate to the CDC Foundation, a nonprofit that supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s work, and Feed the Children.

SHAWN MENDES DONATES $175,000 TO SICKKIDS FOUNDATION FOR CORONAVIRUS PREPAREDNESS: Shawn Mendes is giving back big to the SickKids Foundation through his own charitable foundation, so they can be prepared for the coronavirus pandemic with PPE equipment. “Through The Shawn Mendes Foundation, we have been working to find ways to best support the COVID-19 crisis. By making this donation to SickKids, we hope to help provide support in the urgent screening and prevention of COVID-19 for their patients and the surrounding community of Toronto,” Shawn shared on his Instagram about the donation. He added that “for the next month, we will be directing all donations to The Shawn Mendes Foundation to go towards additional efforts by SickKids, as well as efforts being made internationally by the World Health Organization COVID-19 Response Fund.”

LADY GAGA DELAYS ‘CHROMATICA’ ALBUM RELEASE – (03/25/2020)

Lady Gaga is delaying the release of her sixth studio album, Chromatica due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The 33-year-old singer explained that while art is something that can help in a time like this, she doesn’t feel right about releasing her album as the virus continues to spread.

She instead believes that the focus should be on finding solutions and cures so the world can heal.

Gaga said she will announce a new 2020 release date for Chromatica soon. She also confirmed her April 30-May 11 shows at the MGM in Las Vegas will be postponed, but said her Chromatica Ball tour will begin in the summer as planned.

In addition, Lady Gaga shared how she had a secret Coachella set lined up prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. Coachella Music Festival was postponed this month and rescheduled for October.

Lady Gaga was to release Chromatica on April 10th.

CAMILA CABELLO POSTPONES ‘ROMANCE’ WORLD TOUR: Camila Cabello has postponed her upcoming Romance tour. The singer revealed the news on her Instagram, sharing that “so much that is really unknown, we’re also taking extreme precautions to protect ourselves, our team, our dancers, our band, our crew and ultimately you guys.” Camila added that she’s “truly heartbroken to say that we’ve decided we need to postpone the tour.” “We can’t start rehearsals without putting people at risk and with so much up in the air with no real and definitive end in sight, I feel this is the responsible thing to do,” she added. Camila said that they are going to try and work out rescheduled tour dates.

JUSTIN BIEBER SHARES ‘R&BIEBER’ MUSIC COMPILATION: Justin Bieber is releasing new compilations of his music. He shared the five-song compilation R&Bieber Monday. Bieber said he will release compilations twice a week while in isolation amid the coronavirus outbreak. “Gonna be putting up some compilations for you guys. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Here is the first one,” he wrote. R&Bieber features the songs “Habitual,” “Take It Out On Me,” “Changes,” “Get Me” featuring Kehlani and “Available.” The tracks appear on his most recent album, Changes, released in February.

REPORT: QUEEN ELIZABETH TO TALK CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC IN HISTORIC ADDRESS – (03/25/2020)

Queen Elizabeth II is planning an unscheduled address for the fourth time in history. The 93-year-old monarch will follow “advice of the government as to when it might best be deployed,” People reports, noting that the last time she made such an address was following the death of her mother in 2002. 

Following strict social distancing guidelines, Elizabeth will likely give the speech via FaceTime or Skype. The Queen, who is in isolation, may even begin meeting with staff via video chat, People reports. 

She and her husband Prince Philip, 98, are in seclusion with a skeleton staff of eight people. Not even close relatives such as the Duke of York, who lives close to her Windsor estate, or Prince Edward and his wife Sophie are permitted to visit, The Daily Mail reports. 

Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Camilla, 71 and 72 respectively, are also in seclusion at Birkhall, a 53,000 acre estate. They also have a skeleton staff on hand and are not seeing their children or grandchildren. 

Prince William and Kate Middleton are staying quiet at their Norfolk estate with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are with their baby Archie in Canada.

CHARLIE PUTH, JON BON JOVI HELP ANNOUNCE LAUNCH OF NEW JERSEY PANDEMIC RELIEF FUND: Native New Jersey residents Charlie Puth and Jon Bon Jovi are among the celebrities who are featured in a new YouTube video announcing the launch of the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund. The charity was set up to encourage online donations that will be used to aid vulnerable citizens of the Garden State in need of medical, social and economic assistance because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Other stars who are either New Jersey natives or residents who are featured in the video include Bruce Springsteen, Danny DeVito, Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, and soccer star Carli Lloyd.

CHINA REOPENS THEATERS: In a positive sign of things to come for the film industry, about 507 and counting movie theaters have been reopened in China. The coronavirus pandemic is finally showing signs of slowing in China. Most theaters around the world remain closes, though Brazil, Russia, Mexico, Korea and Japan are allowing limited showings. 

STARS SUPPORT VIRTUAL STORYTIME MOVEMENT – (03/24/2020)

A new nationwide reading movement has been organized in response to the mass homeschooling the country is facing during the coronavirus pandemic.

Reading aloud daily is “one of the most effective ways to foster early literacy and is a key factor in building language and social skills,” the campaign says.

The program was set to launch this summer, but it revved into overdrive to help parents and caregivers during the outbreak, which kicked off Monday.

The program was launched by publishing giant Penguin Random House in partnership with Parents magazine. Penguin will also donate 750,000 copies of books through First Book, which helps get books to kids in need. 

The program joins a hodgepodge of celebrity efforts to help kids learn at home. Another big one is spearheaded by Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams, who teamed up with Save the Children and No Kid Hungry. Their movement, #SaveWithStories, has recruited other celebs to read their favorite children’s books for kids—and their parents. So far, Ellen DeGeneresJimmy Fallon, Ron Howard, Josh Gad, Camila Cabello, Reese Witherspoon, Beanie Feldstein and Senator Kamala Harris have joined them.

Amazon, meanwhile, has lifted the paywall for original and acquired children’s series on its Prime Video platform, so all Amazon users can watch their kids programing. Among the original titles available are Pete the Cat, Just Add Magic, Costume Quest, Peg + Cat and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and acquired shows including PBS Kids staples Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Dinosaur Train, Odd Squad and Arthur.

Janet Jackson took to social media on Sunday night to send a positive message in support of those who are trying their hardest to protect, serve, and provide for everyone in the middle of the global health crisis.

She took a moment to recognize the nurses, doctors, hospitals, healthcare providers, scientists, drivers, pilots, flight attendants, delivery teams, cleaners, grocery stores, clerks, teachers, managers, men and women in uniform, sanitation facilities, janitorial teams, reporters, journalists, security professionals, and everyone around the world who are working endlessly to prevent the virus from spreading further.

“Let’s all keep the positivity up by remembering to keep smiling, laughing, singing, dancing and spreading LOVE,” she continued.

The singer asked fans to put a heart in the comments section to show their love and support for those she mentioned in her message.

Jackson geotagged her upload in London, letting fans know where she was self-isolating.

COSTUME DESIGNERS GUILD TO MAKE MASKS: The Costume Designers Guild is rallying support among its members to sew masks for hospitals who face a shortage amid the coronavirus pandemic. The president of the Guild, Salvador Perez, tells Variety: “We are organizing all our members from local 892 and local 705 costumers who can sew,  to manufacture masks for hospitals. It will be good to keep busy and help the community.” Several productions, including Grey’s Anatomy and The Good Doctor, have already donated their masks and gowns.

ADAM LEVINE & WIFE NOT EXPECTING THIRD CHILD: Adam Levine isn’t going to be a father for a third time – yet. The Maroon 5 frontman’s wife Behati Prinsloo sparked speculation on Monday when she posted a blurry black-and-white photo on Instagram that many fans took to be an ultrasound picture. “Pregnant agaaaaiin?” commented one fan. “Pregnant?” wrote several more. “Ultrasound?” asked one. But a source confirmed to Us Weekly the South African model isn’t pregnant. DUA LIPA ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘FUTURE NOSTALGIA’ WILL BE RELEASED SOONER THAN EXPECTED – (03/24/2020)

Dua Lipa is moving up the release of her second studio album, Future Nostalgia.

The 24-year-old singer confirmed Monday that she will release the album Friday, one week ahead of its original release date.

“I’m really excited for you all to hear it and, you know, make of it what you will,” a visibly emotional Lipa said on Instagram Live. “I hope it brings you some happiness, and I hope it makes you smile, and I hope it makes you dance. I hope I make you proud.”

Lipa also said she will announce new U.K. and Europe tour dates today and she will release the new single “Break My Heart” and a music video for the song Wednesday.

Future Nostalgia features the singles “Don’t Start Now” and “Physical.” Lipa released a workout video for “Physical” this month that shows her playing a fitness instructor.

Future Nostalgia was originally set to be released on April 4th.
