LIZZO SUED BY SONGWRITERS FOR ‘TRUTH HURTS’: Lizzo is being sued for her smash single, “Truth Hurts.” Brothers Justin Raisen and Jeremiah Raisen, and Justin “Yves” Rothman were originally sued by Lizzo to seek a determination that they did not deserve credit for co-penning the song. They’ve now hit back with a countersuit, claiming their song “Healthy,” written with Lizzo a few months earlier, is similar to “Truth Hurts.” A musicologist reportedly found “strikingly similar lyric and musical elements” in the two songs according to the counter-suit. Both songs begin with the line “I just did a DNA test / turns out I’m a 100% that bitch,” among other alleged similarities. Lizzo’s attorneys previously claimed the Raisens gave written waiver of any right to the song.

HILARY DUFF ASKS DISNEY TO MOVE ‘LIZZE MCGUIRE’ REVIVAL TO HULU – (03/02/2020)

Hilary Duff took the unusual step of posting a formal statement on social media requesting Disney to move the much-anticipated Lizzie McGuire revival she is starring in from Disney Plus to Hulu

On Instagram, she wrote: “I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating. It’s important to me that just as her experiences as a preteen/teenager navigating life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable. It would be a dream if Disney would let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again.”

Duff’s bid to switch platforms come after Variety reported that behind-the-scenes issues that ultimately resulted in creator and revival showrunner Terri Minsky’s ouster. Duff and Minsky reportedly want to do a more adult revival, while Disney wanted a kid-and-family-friendly show.

While Disney initially agreed to Duff and Minsky’s version, they ultimately wanted to move in a different direction after two episodes were already in the can. She first spoke out on Instagram Stories Tuesday when news broke that Disney PlusLove, Simon series was moved to Hulu and retitled Love, Victor, after it was deemed not “family-friendly” enough for the Disney-branded outlet.

She circled the phrase “family-friendly” in the headline and wrote “Sounds familiar.”

Another show that moved from Disney Plus to Hulu was High Fidelity starring Zoe Kravitz.

TAYLOR SWIFT TRANSFORMS INTO A MAN FOR ‘THE MAN’ VIDEO – (02/28/2020)

Taylor Swift has released the official music video for her song “The Man,” the first video that she has directed by herself.

In the video, Taylor transforms into a man while dressed in prosthetics, a wig, and facial hair. At the end of the clip, her speaking voice is provided by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The man who Taylor plays is essentially the character Leonardo DiCaprio played in Wolf of Wall Street, and she name checks the actor in the lyrics. One scene gives a nod to Serena Williams, who came under fire at the U.S. Open in 2018 for her reaction to a referee. The scene shows “The Man” launching tennis balls at a referee played by Swift’s father.

The video premiered live on YouTube at 7am [ET] and Taylor signed online an hour earlier to answer questions from fans while they waited for the video to go live.

Swift shared some behind the scenes photos from the video shoot on her official Instagram account, writing: “Just sitting here pondering how happy I am that ‘The Man’ music video is OUT.”

A few of the Easter eggs in the video include:

“The Man” stops to go the bathroom on a wall at “13th Street Station,” a nod to Swift’s favorite number. Around the station sign in graffiti is the names of Swift’s albums, from Fearless to Reputation. “Missing: If Found Return to Taylor Swift,” a sign reads. It is a nod to Swift’s battle for the rights to her own music. There’s also a sign on the wall that shows no scooters are allowed, a reference to her battle with Scooter Braun.

That same shot in the subway shows a poster for Swift’s Miss Americana Netflix documentary. According to the sign, Mr. Americana stars Tyler Swift.

Swift released this music video on a very significant anniversary. On February 27, 1922, the Supreme Court upheld the 19th Amendment, the voting rights for women.

A newspaper “The Man” reads in the video features multiple headlines, including one that calls out that double standard and asks, “What Man Won the Year in Celebrity Dating?”

While the “walk of shame” is more associated with women who have sex, man-Swift gets a walk of praise. After sleeping with a woman, he walks down a hallway with white arches and high-fives 19 hands jutting out from the walls.

The 19 hands could also be a reference to Kanye West, who notoriously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and feuded with her multiple times since. Swift was 19 when that moment happened. The scene in the video also resembles a hallway inside West and wife Kim Kardashian West’s home.

HARRY STYLES CONFIRMS KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY; TO PERFORM TWO ‘HARRYWEEN’ SHOWS IN OCTOBER – (02/27/2020)

Harry Styles was asked about being robbed at knifepoint earlier this month while making an appearance on the Today show on Wednesday.

According to reports, Harry was approached by a mugger on Valentine’s Day and he “played it pretty cool” and gave the assailant money. It apparently left him pretty shaken up, though.

Carson Daly asked Harry how he was doing during his appearance on the Today show and he responded, “I’m okay, thanks, thank you. Thanks for asking.”

Harry has also announced two shows, October 30th and 31st, at Madison Square Garden. Billed as “Harryween,” the shows are described as a “fancy dress party.” Singer Orville Peck will open both shows. American Express and Verified Fan presales start March 2nd. The general public can buy tickets starting March 6th. Harry is also playing three nights at Madison Square Garden in July as part of his Love on Tour trek.

A swarm of screaming girls formed “the first Today show mosh pit,” according to Daly when Styles performed tunes from his Fine Line album. “I’ve never done that song this early,” Styles told co-host Hoda Kotb after he rocked the Citi Concert Series stage with his high-energy performances of “Kiwi,” “Watermelon Sugar,” “Adore You” and fan favorite “Lights Up” for the last song.

Later, he chatted about Lizzo, sharing some sweet words about his pal and dropping a hint about a potential collaboration. “I just think she’s amazing, I think she’s such a great artist,” he said. “I think as a fan, what you want an artist to be is themselves, and I think she’s someone who’s just herself. And she makes amazing music, and it’s really feel-good, and I think that’s what a lot of people need right now.” When asked if a collab was finally in the works, he shrugged and said, “Maybe.”

Styles is set to kick off a world tour in April, starting in the United Kingdom. The singer will perform across Europe and North America and land in South America in October. He is expected to announce dates for Asia and Australia soon.
