DEMI LOVATO HEARS ‘CRY FOR HELP’ IN NEW SONG ‘ANYONE’ – (01/27/2020)

Demi Lovato says she hears a “cry for help” in the lyrics of her new song “Anyone.”

The 27-year-old singer and actress discussed the song in an interview on a New Music Daily with Zane Lowe.

Lovato wrote and recorded “Anyone” prior to her highly-publicized 2018 overdose and hospitalization. She explains:

[“This song was written and recorded actually very shortly before everything happened. I recorded the vocals for it four days before [the overdose]” Lovato told Lowe. “The lyrics took on a totally different meaning. At the time when I was recording it, I almost listen back and hear these lyrics as a cry for help. And you kind of listen back to it and you kind of think, how did nobody listen to this song and think, ‘Let’s help this girl’.”]

Lovato revealed that, leading up to the incident, she felt like she “was in denial” about her issues, which resulted in a two-week hospital stay and subsequent in-patient rehab treatment.

Lovato has been sober for over a year and is focused on her happiness and well-being.

Beyond music, the singer chatted about her sexuality and hopes to start a family soon, though she’s not sure if she wants that to be with a man or a woman.

Demi premiered her new single “Anyone” last night at The Grammy Awards. Lovato needed to restart the song after she got choked up during her first attempt. She was then able to power through the performance to a standing ovation.

CHANNING TATUM DEFENDS JESSIE J FROM TROLLS – (01/27/2020)

Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive.

Channing Tatum is defending his girlfriend Jessie J from trolls. Tatum shared a post on Instagram Friday confirming that he and the “Bang Bang” singer are back together, he noticed some negative feedback from commenters.

The 39-year-old hit up the comments section himself to defend his 31-year-old girlfriend. Responding to a writer who wrote: “Jenna looks better with you,” a reference to Tatum’s ex-wife of nine years, Jenna Dewan, he wrote that there “ain’t nobody more stunning and beautiful to look at” than Jessie.

He continued: “I don’t usually address s— like this. But you seem as good of a terrible happy people hating thoughtless person as any of them. Why don’t you seriously think abut what you’re doing. It’s hurtful and I ain’t about it.”

“If you can’t not be a horrible hateful person on my page and support the infinite and untouchable beauty and woman that Jess is… please kindly get TF out of here,” the Magic Mike star continued. “No one wants you here. Especially me.”

Tatum didn’t stop there. He explicitly compared J and Dewan, with J coming out on top: “And ain’t nobody more stunning and beautiful to look at but even more as a human than Jess. And yeah that includes my ex. Sorry about your opinion. But what I said is facts. Just facts. Ok bye be careful with your actions it’s what you create for yourself.”

He continued: “And just to be super clear for the other people that love to turn sh– around. Jenna is beautiful and amazing in her own right. But no and I mean no is more beautiful or better than anyone else.”

“Beauty isn’t measurable. It’s in the eye of the beholder,” the actor concluded. “So while all you infinitely beautiful people pour over these words and try and find s— to start s— wit. I’m gonna be enjoying my MF night with my gorgeous lady and cuddle up in her beautiful heart.”

The pair made their red carpet debut Friday at the MusicCares Person of the Year gala in L.A. after rekindling their romance, and J shared her delight at being back with Tatum on social media. She wrote: “When you surrender and fearlessly act on the truth that always was. Love GLOWS and GROWS in a different way. Happiness from the inside out. I love you so much baby @channingtatum.”

CUSTODY

Meanwhile, Dewan and Tatum have reportedly come to a custody agreement. The pair share Everly, 6, and have agreed to a joint custody arrangement, with both committing to not use her in social media campaigns or  advertisements without the other person’s consent.

JUSTIN BIEBER ACCUSED BY FIONA APPLE OF ‘GAMING THE SYSTEM’ – (01/24/2020)

In a new interview with Vulture, Fiona Apple accused Justin Bieber of “gaming the system” to get his song up the charts. She said, “I feel terrible that anybody would want to be #1 as badly as Justin Bieber wants to be #1.”

For her upcoming album, she says she doesn’t plan to do what she called a “crazy amount of promo” and questioned how the music industry got to this point. She commented, “The climate of art and the music industry is so ridiculous” and went on to compared it to a video game with artists now “checking their scores.” to see who’s made it to the top of the charts.

Her comments were in reference to the fact that Justin Bieber had asked fans to use manipulative streaming and purchasing practices on social media. His post, that went viral, suggested that international fans use a VPN (virtual private network) to make it seem as though they were listening to the song from America.

The U.S. is the only country that the Billboard Hot 100 chart takes into consideration for chart placement. The post also suggested that fans listen to the music with ads and on repeat at a low volume even while they are sleeping. All as an effort to race the song up the chart.

In the end, Bieber’s song “Yummy,” peaked at #2 on that chart.

HALSEY CALLED OUT FOR NEGATIVE SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENT – (01/24/2020)

Halsey is apologizing tor tweeting a response to a Pitchfork review of her new album. The review states that “she isn’t quite the radical she thinks she is” and that “too much of the album sounds like the amorphous pop star you might associate with a miserable Lyft ride.”

In response, on Thursday (1-23) she tweeted: “Can the basement that they run pitchfork out of just collapse already.” Afterwards, someone pointed out the address of the magazine as One World Trade Center, in New York City. She quickly deleted the message and re-tweeted.

Halsey then clarified that the original tweet was a total misunderstanding and that she had no idea where the website’s office was located. Her re-post read: “ABSOLUTELY deleted it upon realizing this. Was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm. Just figured I could poke at them back with the same aloof passive aggression they poke at artists with! Clearly a misunderstanding ❤️”
