Box Office Recap – 11/18/2019
‘FORD VS FERRARI’ TOPS BOX OFFICE WITH $31M – (11/18/2019)
Disney’s Ford vs. Ferrari zoomed past competitors at the box office, snagging $31 million. Midway, from Roland Emmerich, trailed with $8.8 million. Sony’s Charlie’s Angels, meanwhile, disappointed with about $8.6 million. The latest iteration stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinksa.
Ford vs. Ferrari, starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, and directed by James Mangold, is seen as a potential Oscar contender. The story follows American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and British driver Ken Miles (Bale) and the ripped-from-the-headlines drama around the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans competition, in which Ford roundly beat Ferrari. Jon Bernthal plays Ford VP Lee Iacocca.
