Lil Dicky Releases Star-Studded ‘Earth’ Song for Earth Day – LISTEN NOW!
Lil Dicky has dropped his star-studded “Earth” song just in time for Earth Day.
The 31-year-old rapper and comedian, born David Burd, shared a short clip of the animated video and his thoughts on the “environmental crisis” during Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show:
[“It’s literally got 30 of the biggest artists in the world on it. And every artist plays a different animal – Justin Bieber’s a baboon. Ariana Grande’s a zebra. Ed Sheeran is a koala bear. I can do that 30 times over. It’s all about saving the Earth. There’s an environmental crisis going on right now.”]
Lil Dicky told Ellen he learned a lot about environmental concerns while creating the song and music video:
[“We have 12 years to completely change the way we do so many things on Earth or the damage is irreversible. Within our lifetime, well within our lifetime, crazy things are going to happen – floods, food shortages, bad air.”]
Proceeds from the song will be donated to environmental charities, in consultation with Leonardo DiCaprio’s charity foundation. “They’re gonna explain where they think the money is best served ‘cause they’re in this philanthropic space and I’m pretty new to the game,” Dicky told Ellen, adding, “I went to his house and we played pickleball, and we spoke about the Earth. And one thing I can tell you is that guy cares so much about the planet: Like, he gets really worked up talking about it.”
The video starts with the effects of climate change becoming evident in Los Angeles. Lil Dicky then encounters a group of kids who have knocked over a trash can and he tells them to pick up the garbage. After some insults, one kid starts picking up the trash and finds a magical book that he opens, starting the song.
Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, Wiz Khalifa, Halsey, and John Legend are just some of the many, many stars featured in the song and video.

The TIME 100 Most Influential People List for 2019
Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are among the 100 most influential people in the world, according to Time magazine, which has put together its annual list of the biggest influencers across a number of categories, including Pioneers, Artists, Leaders, Titans and Icons.
In the latter category, Taylor and Lady Gaga are included among names like Michelle Obama and Spike Lee. In the Artists category, you’ll find Ariana Grande, BTS and Khalid.
Shawn Mendes has penned a tribute to Taylor for the mag. Celine Dion wrote one for Lady Gaga. Halsey wrote one for BTS, Troye Sivan wrote one for Ariana Grande and Alicia Keys penned one for Khalid.
Shawn writes of Taylor, “[She] makes the job of creating music for millions of people look easy. It all comes from her – her belief in magic and love, and her ability to be as honest and raw as possible.”
“Ari is breaking the rules and is a force who understands how music should work in 2019. Her love of her fans and of music guide her every move,” Troye wrote of Ariana.
“She marched to the beat of her own drum, knowing that her message of individuality was a way to express her inner strength,” writes Celine of Gaga. “What makes her even more special, and such a powerful influence on society, is that she empowers her fans to adopt the very same values in their lives.”
Alicia Keys lauded Khalid. “He’s a beautiful writer with the ability to take human concepts and make you understand and feel them,” Keys wrote. “He has a full, powerful voice that is somehow unassuming and smooth at the same time. He’s accessible – almost like you’ve met somebody like him before, although there’s nobody else like him.”
Taylor and Khalid will both perform at the 2019 Time 100 Gala, taking place April 23rd.
