An Old Fashion Christmas No More
Conway’s Christmas tree will be unceremoniously lit for the first time tonight as this year’s tree lighting ceremony will not be taking place. The Conway Daily Sun reports the lack of an official tree lighting is largely due to changes being made to the Eastern Slope Inn Resort’s personnel as well as a lack of sponsorship and volunteers to coordinate the past annual event. While the annual, ‘Old Fashion Christmas’ event may not be happening tonight, the town will still be lighting the Christmas tree for the season starting tonight. Other Christmas activities will include the Festival of Trees at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort throughout this weekend; a Grinchmas on Ice show at the Ham Arena on December 7th; seasonal music concerts at the Little White Church on December 6th, 7th, and 8th; and a Christmas at the Castle event at Castle in the Clouds this weekend.

NORTH CONWAY, NH – The 18th Annual Mt. Washington Radio Food Drive for Vaughan Community Services was a HUGE success!
On Wednesday, the Mount Washington Radio team broadcasted live from the First Church of Christ Congregational in North Conway Village for 12 straight hours. From 6am to 6pm, The DJs and staff from 93.5 WMWV, Magic 104, and Easy 95.3 collected frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items, and monetary donations that will be distributed across the various Mount Washington Valley Food Pantries.
Mount Washington Valley residents came out in droves to help those in need in the valley with some highlights like Stan Szetela donating 100 turkeys, Buzz Coleman donating 25 Turkey Dinners, Pine Tree Elementary School donating 1,423 non-perishable food items, The White Mountain Independents donating $1000, and Johnson’s Autocare donating over $3000.
Volunteers collected 350 frozen turkeys which is the exact number that Vaughan Community Services needed to meet their goal.
Mount Washington Valley residents also donated over $11,000 in monetary donations and hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food items. For every 1 dollar donated Vaughan can buy $3 worth of groceries from the NH Food bank.

Nathan Cox Apprehended
Conway Police say they’ve apprehended 20-year-old Nathan Cox of Conway. Police made the announcement yesterday afternoon saying he was arrested without incident at the North Conway Irving Gas Station. They say he’s facing charges for two counts of Theft of a Motor and one count of Theft of a Firearm. Police had put out an announcement that they were looking for Cox this past Monday after he was suspected of being involved with several vehicle thefts from residencies in Conway, Tamworth, and Fryeburg over the past two weeks. Cox had allegedly stolen vehicles that were left unlocked with the keys in them. Authorities recommend residents lock the vehicles in the future.
