Tiger at 100-Acre Woods?
A wild tiger was witnessed roaming 100 Acre Woods earlier today, concerning local officials. Zoology expert Christopher Robin was quoted as saying, “I shouldn’t worry too much, he’ll probably bounce around a bunch before finding his way home again.” But Conway PD are reportedly worried, citing children on the trail networks as a veritable feast for the tiger. Police Chief Edward Wagner says, “What I want to know is how the tiger ended up in the area? It’s not like we have a local zoo.” That question was quickly resolved when Believe in Books Literacy Foundation came forward admitting guilt. Nate Sawyer issued a brief statement saying, “We invited the tiger to check out our grounds in preparation for his visit at our Storybook Character Breakfast on April 13th. Never did we imagine he would cause such a fuss.”

‘DUMBO’ FAILS TO SOAR – (04/01/2019)
Tim Burton’s live action remake of the 1941 Disney classic Dumbo didn’t exactly flop at the box office, it certainly wasn’t hitting any high notes. On Sunday, Disney reported that the film, which stars Colin Farrell and Danny Devito, pulled in $45 million domestically against a $170 million production budget.
That accounts for less than half of what Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and Burton’s Alice in Wonderland brought in. Critics were mixed, delivering a so-so 53% approval on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences were more enthused, delivering an A- on CinemaScore.
Dumbo bumped Jordan Peele’s Us to second place, which brought in $33.6 million in receipts. Us cost $20 million to produce and has earned $128.2 million domestically in two weeks out.

Manchester VA to Lead the Way
The Manchester VA Medical Center will pilot the Department of Veteran’s Affairs effort to turn their VA Hospitals into High Reliability Organizations. VA Manchester Medical Center director Alfred Montoya Jr says, “We are proud to be selected as first in the nation to lead VHA’s journey to High Reliability.” High Reliability Organizations, as a concept, started with complex environments such as aviation and nuclear energy and put procedures in place that maximize safety and minimize harm. The Department of Veterans affairs says this will empower Veterans and their family caregivers, along with employees that work directly with Veterans, to make decisions and impact improvements within the system. Once the system has been implemented at the Manchester VA, 17 other facilities nationwide are slated to follow. The Manchester VA will be holding an informational fair from 10-2 this Friday at the North Conway Grand Hotel.

‘US’ SHATTERS RECORDS IN $70M+ OPENER – (03/25/2019)
Universal’s Us came out on top of the box office this weekend with a $70.3 opener, rocketing past analysts’ expectations of $35 million to $45 million. The Jordan Peele-helmed film also broke records for an opening horror film, surpassing A Quiet Place and is the second-best opener this year behind Captain Marvel ($153 million). Overseas, Us kicked the party off with $16.7 million, bringing the global haul up to just shy of $87 million.
Seeing as the budget was $20 million, this is a major coup, observers say. “Put simply, Jordan Peele is a genius,” said Jim Orr, Universal’s president of domestic distribution. “He’s managed to tap into something that the domestic box office can’t get enough of. People can’t wait to see what he does next.”
Us, which stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, currently has a 94% Rotten Tomatoes ranking.
Meanwhile, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel continued to kick butt and take names at the B.O., bringing in an additional $35 million this year, for a total haul of $320 million domestically alone; globally, Captain Marvel as surged past $900 million and is the 10th-biggest superhero movie of all time.
